Michigan wide receiver Darryl Stonum has been sentenced to two years probation and a suspended sentence of one year in prison for a DUI charge he pleaded guilty to last week.
A suspended jail sentence indicates that Stonum will not face immediate jail time, but likely will if he is found to be in violation of his probation.
A charge of driving with a suspended license has been dropped in a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Stonum was suspended from the Wolverines in early May after a drunken driving arrest -- his third -- and has yet to be reinstated to the team by coach Brady Hoke.
“Darryl made a poor decision that is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated,” Hoke said at the time of the suspension. “He will be disciplined for behavior that is unbecoming of a Michigan football player.
“If he fulfills all of the commitments he has to the legal system and our program, we will make a determination regarding his return to the team.”
