Update: Back issues could wipe out Seantrel Henderson’s 2011 season

Earlier Tuesday, it was reported by multiple media outlets that Miami sophomore Seantrel Henderson will undergo back surgery and be sidelined indefinitely.

Further developments suggest that “indefinitely” may turn into “all of 2011".

Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald, citing a source close to the situation, writes that the offensive lineman “could miss the whole season.” The Palm Beach Post‘s Jorge Milian, citing a team source, reports that Henderson “could miss the entire 2011 season.”

A source close to the Henderson family took it a half-step further, telling CFT earlier this evening that, barring an unexpected development during the surgery and the subsequent rehab process, “Seantrel will be held out for the entire 2011 season.” Other than it’s “a fairly significant issue”, the source declined to detail what the issue is/issues are with Henderson’s back. The source also wouldn’t address speculation that Henderson’s weight played a significant role in his current medical condition.

Regardless of what exactly’s wrong with Henderson’s back, which hampered him throughout most of the spring, there’s little doubt that the season of the nation’s top recruit in the Class of 2010 is very much in jeopardy.
