USC’s Marc Tyler on track for reinstatement to practice

Not only was Marc Tyler suspended for USC’s season opener -- at least -- following, among other things, a hops-induced (allegedly) monologue in front of TMZ cameras last month, the senior running back was also indefinitely suspended from all team activities, including the start of summer camp.

While the former suspension remains in full effect, the latter could be coming to an end in a couple of weeks.

According to Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News, and citing sources within the program, Tyler is on track to be reinstated to practice before the start of classes at the school Aug. 22. Additionally, Wolf reports, he could begin individual workouts with running backs coach Kennedy Pola this weekend.

While Tyler’s suspension came after remarks in front of a camera that Trojans head coach Lane Kiffin labeled as “inappropriate” and not meeting “the standards of being a USC football player” -- including references to “gettin’ Kim Kardashian” and athletes making more money at USC than in the pros -- that was not the sole reason for his suspension. He’s also facing potential disciplinary action from the school’s Office of Student Judicial Affairs for a pair of incidents earlier this year.

The good news, at least according to Wolf, is that a source told him that Tyler’s not likely to face any additional sanctions stemming from those incidents.

Last season, Tyler led the Trojans with 913 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
