Dan Mullen would be shocked if Urban didn’t coach again

For a reason not readily apparent to most anyone but himself, Florida head coach Will Muschamp has stated on two different occasions this week that he would be surprised if Urban Meyer took the head coaching job at Ohio State as has been rumored ad nauseam for most of November.

One man who knows the former Florida coach quite well, however, has a different line of thinking when it comes to Meyer’s coaching future in general.

Dan Mullen was an assistant on Meyer’s staff at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida before striking out on his own and taking the Mississippi job. ¬†While not addressing the Buckeyes speculation specifically, Mullen said it would be the least bit surprising if Meyer got back on the sidelines at some point.

I’d be shocked to not see him coach again at some point,” Mullen said according to the Starkville Dispatch.

“Urban is a young guy and (coaching) is in his blood. I don’t know if this is the year or not but at some point (he’ll get back into it). More than the Pop Warner football and little league baseball he’s doing now. I can’t imagine how intense that little league practice must be.”

Despite myriad denials, Meyer is expected to officially be named as the permanent successor to Jim Tressel at OSU at some point next week, perhaps as early as this coming Sunday.

I don’t know why Ole Miss doesn’t hire Urban. If they have as much money as they say they do, they could make it hard for Urban to turn it down…

Though I think Dan Mullen is right about this one, Dan gets shocked too much. First, he coaches a team (Mississippi State) which is in the SEC West, and he is shocked that LSU is playing “smash mouth football” against the Bulldogs in the first half of their game this year. I guess he thought he was playing in the Big East. Dan, you have to get ahold of yourself and not be shocked as much on obvious things.

Meyer will coach Ohio State, and when everything is signed, sealed, and delivered he will hold a press conference in Columbus.

Just curious but what do all of you Ohio State fans out there think about having Urban Meyer as your next head coach???

@lasseter, I am pumped to have Meyer as the next coach. We are “keeping it in the family” and dude can recruit his tail off. He will come down here to Fla and get us some speed that will not only make us competitive in the Big 10 but also against the SEC.

I’d be shocked if Urban Meyer never lied again

Urban Meyer is perfect for Ohio State cause he can bring in all the thugs he brought in at Florida and still nobody will care because it isn’t as bad as Penn State
