Report connects Arkansas OC to Florida Atlantic job

With Florida Atlantic coach Howard Schnellenberger deciding to retire after this season before it ever began, the Owls have been able to keep their eyes out for a replacement of the legendary coach for a while. But, now that the season’s wrapping up, that search is gaining momentum.

One of the names that has come up for the opening at Florida Atlantic is Arkansas offensive coordinator Garrick McGee. FAUOwlAccess.com is reporting that McGee is a in serious talks for the job with FAU after he reportedly interviewed for the position last week.

Mike Leach and Randy Shannon had previously been connected to the job opening. FAU, which has one win this season, reportedly wishes to have a decision made on a new hire by some time next week.

McGee has helped Arkansas to a 10-2 regular season record, with the Hogs averaging 37 points a game -- good enough for 14th-best in college football.
