UNC’s Ramsay granted a sixth year by NCAA

The collegiate career of North Carolina’s Devon Ramsay has been the dictionary definition of a roller coaster ride.

The fullback missed the 2007 season due to a shoulder injury; the last nine games of the 2010 season due to his role in the impermissible benefit/academic scandal that’s still hanging over the program; and the vast majority of the 2011 season due to a torn ACL/MCL suffered in the season opener. Thanks to the benevolence of the NCAA, however, Ramsay’s football career will continue at this level.

In a press release, the Tar Heels announced that the fifth-year senior has been granted a hardship waiver for the 2011 season and will have a sixth year of eligibility in 2012.

Ramsay, a member of UNC’s 2007 recruiting class, has not actually carried the football during an actual game, but he does have nine receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown.
