Another ex-NFL coordinator in Tide’s sights

On the same day former New York Jets Brian Schottenheimer reportedly interviewed for the vacant Alabama offensive coordinator job, another soon-to-be-ex-NFL coordinator is reportedly doing the same.

According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, Jacksonville Jaguars coordinator Dirk Koetter is interviewing for the Tide job. While Koetter is still technically the Jaguars’ coordinator, the NFL club has hired a new head coach, Mike Mularkey, who’s expected to bring in his own coaching staff.

Interestingly, Koetter could be a candidate for the coordinator vacancy with the Atlanta Falcons. Mularkey held that job until moving up the coaching ladder with the Jaguars.

Shortly after this report surfaced, Alabama issued a press release stating that Saban will conduct a press conference Thursday at 2 p.m. ET. No reason was given for the presser, although it’s believed it will be to announce which Tide players are staying for another season or leaving early for the NFL.

There has been no definitive timeline given by Saban for a hire.
