Ryan Katz and Dillon Baxter to reportedly make SDSU their home, too

Not long after it was announced that USC wide receiver Brice Butler would take his remaining year of eligibility to San Diego State, it was reported that two other Pac-12 players would be changing their loyalty to the Aztecs as well.

The North County Times reports that former Oregon State quarterback Ryan Katz and USC running back Dillon Baxter are headed to San Diego to play under coach Rocky Long.

Katz received his release from the Beavers in November and will be able to play immediately as he, like Butler, pursues a graduate degree. Katz threw for 2,401 yards, with 17 TDs and 11 interceptions in 2010 when he was the starter for Oregon State, but eventually lost the starting job to Sean Mannion.

The move hasn’t been confirmed, but sources close to the situation have told the NC Times that Katz is expected enroll for classes that start next week.

Baxter’s reported transfer to the Aztecs is, well, not that unexpected. Ever since Baxter was given his release from the Trojans in November, a month after he was reportedly “no longer with the program”, SDSU has been in the conversation. However, unlike Butler and Katz, Baxter will have to sit out a season per NCAA transfer regulations.
