Florida DT settles pot charges with deferred prosecution

Nearly two weeks ago, another Florida player, defensive tackle Leon Orr, kept up the recent Florida/pot possession trend by getting caught with less than 20 grams of the stuff and drug paraphernalia.

Just a few days later, Orr has settled his misdemeanor charges with a minimal financial punishment.

According to Alachua County Court records, Orr agreed to a deferred prosecution of the case, opting instead for a $50 court fee and either a $150 fine or 12 1/2 hours of community service.

The incident, which took place on Jan. 10 in Orr’s dorm room, involved a search of Orr’s dorm room for unspecified reasons, according to a university police report. University police found the drugs, as well as a gas pipe and rolling papers, in Orr’s desk and bedside table. The redshirt freshman admitted to owning the drugs.

Orr was the eighth player to be arrested in Will Muschamp‘s first year at Florida, and sixth marijuana-related arrest.
