Getty ImagesA day after the passing of a coaching legend, the arrangements for Joe Paterno have been announced.
The Paterno family announced Monday that the former Penn State head coach will be laid to rest Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET at a private funeral service. For the sake of those in attendance, we’re hoping common sense will prevail and the members of a Kansas “church” will allow Paterno’s family and friends to mourn in peace.
There will also be two public viewings, the first Tuesday at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on the Penn State campus and another Wednesday. The former will begin at 1 p.m. ET and is scheduled to last 10 hours, while the latter is a four-hour affair beginning at 8 a.m. ET.
Additionally, a public memorial service will be held Thursday at the Jordan Center basketball arena, located next to Beaver Stadium.
The 85-year-old Paterno passed away Sunday morning at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a two-month battle with lung cancer. In a statement confirming Paterno’s death, the family requested that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania or the Penn State-THON, The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.
a new paterno article, over/under on how long it takes obnoxiousguy to post: 10 minutes?
I would have guessed under 5 minutes… clearly i was wrong.
All the comments were deleted. I’ve seen my first cases of censorship on hardball talk last night and today. Dissapointing they are not allowing everyones comments to stay.
Leave the family alone and let them mourn.
Dig an extra hole. You know, in case Sandusky shows up.
“Kansas ‘church’”?
More like Kansas cult.
There is more than one way to skin a cat. I hope decency prevails.
WBC= Satanic cult.
Those Westboro schmucks… Their continued conversion of oxygen into carbon dioxide is proof enough that there is no God. I’ve got to think that if God was real, he’d smite them for tarnishing his image.
Open or closed casket?
Do you think for one minute the hate morons at the web site will influence anything at PSU or the legacy of JoePa. Really, who gives a shit what these morons think or say.
Anybody have an idea where he will eventually be laid to rest?
