San Diego State officially adds three Pac-12 transfers

Okay, now it’s official.

Earlier this month, it was expected that San Diego State would be picking up a trio of Pac-12 transfers in former Oregon State quarterback Ryan Katz, as well as USC running back Dillon Baxter and receiver Brice Butler. That report has come to fruition as all three are enrolled in the school, per the San Diego Union Tribune.

The three will begin offseason workouts right away and will participate in spring practice. Only Katz and Butler can compete in the 2012 season, however, as they have already graduated at their previous stop; Baxter will have to sit out a year to satisfy NCAA transfer rules.

The running back will have two years of eligibility remaining, though.

Katz and Butler are hoping for more playing time with the Aztecs. Katz was benched early in the 2011 season in favor of Sean Mannion, and Butler played a limited role with the Trojans.

Baxter’s career at USC was more recognized for the mistakes he made off the field than his time on it. He was deemed “no longer part of the team” in October.
