Four-star 2012 Irish signee headed to Fresno State?

After leaving Notre Dame earlier this year without ever stepping foot on the field for the Irish, it was thought that Tee Shepard (pictured, No. 2) would make his way back west and ultimately land at USC.

While the state is apparently correct, the specific destination is a little further north of the Trojans. Maybe

Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News reported Friday that Shepard is expected to enroll at Fresno State. Additionally, a tweet posted to Shepard’s Twitter account Friday -- and subsequently removed -- indicated that he would be playing football for the Bulldogs.

However, Shepard’s father told KGPE-TV in Fresno later that day that the tweet was a modern-day answer to “the dog ate my homework” -- i.e. someone else posted the message on his son’s account -- and that he has no idea to where his son will transfer.

Along with USC and Fresno State, Washington has also been rumored as a potential transfer destination.

The Irish announced back in March that Shepard was no longer enrolled at the school, two months after he enrolled as an early signee as part of Notre Dame’s 2012 recruiting class. The stated reason for Shepard’s decision was the desire to be back closer to his family in Fresno.

Shepard, a four- or five-star player depending on the recruiting service, was rated as the No. 4 corner in the country and the No. 11 player at any position in the state of California by Rivals.com.
