Steve Addazio to BC is the next coaching carousel move

An already eventful day of coaching carousel news keeps on going. In addition to the news that Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema and Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn will be taking new jobs at Arkansas and Auburn, respectively, Temple coach Steve Addazio will be taking a new job as well.

Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated reported Tuesday Addazio will be named the new coach at Boston College. Athletic director Brad Bates later confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

“Steve Addazio has done a tremendous job with Temple Football in his two years at the University, and we wish him nothing but the best,” said Bradshaw. “Temple Football has never been stronger, and I am confident we will be able to attract a high-level pool of candidates for the position and the program will continue its upward momentum.”

Addazio just finished his second year as Temple’s head coach, where he went 13-11 and oversaw the Owls’ transition from the MAC to the Big East. The transition wasn’t entirely smooth, however. Temple finished the season with a 4-7 record. Before his two years with Temple, Addazio served as offensive coordinator at Florida.

Addazio replaces Frank Spaziani, who was fired after four seasons at BCS with a 21-29 record and a 2-10 campaign this past year.
