Top uncommitted 2013 recruit narrows list to three SEC schools

reuben foster

With just a handful of days until National Signing Day remaining, and other than consensus No. 1 Robert Nkemdiche, Reuben Foster continues to be the highest-rated recruit on the Rivals100 board who has yet to commit.

Come early next week, however, that will change.

Foster will announce Monday, two days ahead of signing day, to which school he will (again) verbally commit during a nationally-televised “event.”  His Auburn High School coach tells Rivals.com that the linebacker will choose from three SEC schools — Alabama, Auburn and Georgia.

“He has some really good choices,” head coach Tim Carter told the website. “Reuben was in Athens last week and they were talking to him about being like Jarvis Jones on defense, getting after the passer. Auburn has a new staff, but he knows the area so well. Alabama has done a nice job too. It’s hard to tell right now.”

Foster had originally committed to Alabama in the summer of 2011 before flipping to hometown Auburn the following summer.  After Gene Chizik and his staff were fired following the 2012 season — and after Foster showed his allegiance by getting some Auburn ink on his right forearm — Foster decommitted from the Tigers and reopened his recruitment in early December.

As one of Rivals‘ 33 five-star players in the Class of 2013, Foster is rated as the No. 1 linebacker in the country and the No. 13 player at any position.  He’s also the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama.

Along with Foster and Nkemdiche, there are 11 other Rivals100 recruits who remain uncommitted.

Since he likes tattoos then he should probably go the Ohio Slow University.

But since Nicky Satan can outspend the other 2 schools, Bama will add this kid to their pay for play program

I wonder what he’ll do with the permanent problem on his arm if he doesnt go to Auburn… Maybe turn it into a nice butterfly. He seems like a butterfly type of guy.

    —————————————–

    Yes. Yes he can.

Nick Saban not only spends so much money, so frequently, but he spends it so secretively that he can “outbid” every school in the nation on recruits at top dollar for years now and the NCAA can not even get a whiff of this practice.

    No wait. I’m not done.

Nick Saban doesn’t even need to be a good coach. He just needs a lot of money to buy out the top recruiting classes so he can effortlessly win, even though higher rated recruiting classes land at USC and they constantly underachieve under Lane Kiffin.

Do you see how ridiculous that sounds?

Nice guy or not, Nick Saban is no worse than most prestigious colleges coaches. The man is a winner. Maybe not in personality, but the last time I checked the “nice guys” all got fired.

And as long as he can’t be proven to have paid off recruits, or commit major rules violations, he will stay at Alabama and will more than likely continue to win.

Like I said earlier – If your team doesn’t like him winning, play better.

An Auburn kid with an Auburn tattoo who likely grew up rooting for Auburn should probably go to Auburn. Unfortunately, his tantrum after Trooper Taylor was fired indicates that he may have some expectations of special treatment Malzahn won’t provide. That a receivers coach was so involved in recruiting a linebacker just underscores how right Gus was to dump Taylor. Wherever this kid winds up, I hope he turns out to be worth the attention he’s getting.

    @idolized1 …

kattykathy has admitted s/he/it came onto this site solely to antagonize me. It has no affiliation to any team and has demonstrated no knowledge or interest in college football. It came on PFT one day slamming me and when people there told it to get lost. When I mentioned there that I’m an Alabama fan, it started showing up here on every Bama thread claiming Nick Saban pays players and/or slamming me. I don’t know this person or understand why it’s following me around a football blog. But it doesn’t care what you say about Alabama. It’s just trying to get attention.

  6. vanmorrissey says: Jan 31, 2013 7:05 PM

….and he’s in SD this week with his teammates. He sure as heck won’t sign at SDSU so he got another free vacation to support his friends, no doubt, which hey, is the way to play the game. I’m sure ESPN will broadcast the ‘event,’ where he’ll have like all 5 hats on a table then roll up his sleeve to show off a new tatoo he got in SD which will show his decision.

wow, this Deb person has a very high, yet delusional thoughts on herself.

Regardless of what my jealous lil wannabe thinks, she is the furthest thing on my thoughts when I post.

For the record, I do not care for USC, Alabama, or the Big 10. So I sure hope all the other fans of those schools do not think that I feel the need to follow those self annointed queens also.

Research the records sweetheart. Your obnoxious defense of all things Steelers, criminals, and rapists get you hammered on the other site, not me.
And your defense of those same qualities regarding Alabama football get you blasted by others except the same people that have a delusional sense of self worth like you.

Now please stop bringing my name up every time you need attention. The jealousy you display is certainly warranted, but its so makes an appearance of classless pettiness.

Foster imo might be ready for the pros without college.Whatever school he winds up at you can bet he will be a one year then a #1 draft to the pros and i think thats whats going to happen.Pro scouts have been watching him since highschool. At season end he can count his trophys. The NFL awaits.

  10. Deb says: Jan 31, 2013 7:24 PM

    @kattykathy …

You’re the one who made me the target of your disturbing attention on PFT. And I don’t get hammered on that site. I get a lot of supportive posts–as you discovered when you were posting your creepy nonsense.

And you are the one who made your debut on CFT by slamming me personally. You weren’t commenting on any team–and you have yet to indicate an affinity for any team or any knowledge or interest in any team. You post only personal attacks on me and nonsense about Alabama paying players–nonsense which has no basis in fact, not currently or historically.

I would be more than happy not to interact with you. But you are the sad little troll who made me your mission from the moment you came on both sites. As I’ve said, I am a rape survivor and have never defended a rapist. You know nothing about me and clearly have not read any of my posts with anything akin to comprehension. You’ve done nothing be follow me around and been personally insulting for your own sad reasons. I’ve been here for years. I didn’t jump onto these threads coming after you.

Grow up, child, and find something more productive to do with your time than stalking people on football blogs.

  14. Deb says: Jan 31, 2013 7:37 PM

And katty, I’d never have commented to or about you if you’d come onto CFT talking about college football, rather than immediately posting a personal slam at me. You made your agenda clear the moment you arrived … just as you did on PFT. I don’t know who you are, what your problem is, or why you keep harassing me. But it’s only fair for me to tell other Bama fans not to waste time answering you when the nonsense you post about Saban paying players is just more of the unprovoked nastiness you’ve been posting to me for a while.

    @slartibartfast4242 …

That takes two cats. I’m done LOL

    Deb,

You have to say what every southern lady says.

“If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all!”

However in Kattykathys case you may say what Olympia Dukakis said in my my wife’s favorite movie “Steel Magnolias”…..”if you can say anything nice, come and sit next to me and tell me all about it”

Deb, the posters on PFT and CFT know the quality of you chacacter, and we’ve known that for quite a while. You don’t have to defend anything.

As to KattyKathy or ehone or who ever it is this week, it doesn’t impact my world in any shape, manner or form. The best way to describe it’s posts and musings is that the entires are about as important as a fart in church. They may be funny the first time, but afterward the smell lingers and everyone knows who do it.
    that describes KattyKathy.

Actually – Wal Marts in the South are much nicer than the one you work at.

    Sorry – couldn’t resist.

    @ Katty

LOL – in a “check out the dipshit” kinda way.

    @ Deb

    Preach it sister.

Foster grew up in Georgia, moved to auburn for his senior year. I expect him to sign there.

Katty must have a crush on Deb. It may have evolved into an obsession. Either way, its getting weird.

Midwestpleb- the crystal trophy hasn’t appeared outside the state of Alabama in four now. It hasn’t been seen in the Midwest in what, a decade? Neither has jobs, prospects, or self esteem. There has been plenty of excuse making, crying, and sadness. So go ahead and warrior up on that.

    Not possible.

Players are not eligible for the NFL draft until they are 3 years removed from their high school graduating class. That means Foster will not be eligible for the NFL draft until 2016.

As for pro scouts watching him in high school? Ummm, no. They may have heard of him, but they wouldn’t be attending, much less watching any high school games. They have 3 years to see how he does at the collegiate level to see if he truly is an NFL caliber football player.

Hey there Jim Bob, or how many first names do you have? I also see that auburn celebrated by showcasing their trophy at wal marts all over alabama also LMAO. Must be an inbred alabama thing right? what other program who wins national titles in any sport showcases the championship trophy at wal marts all across the state? Only inbred alabama. I know wal mart is as big time and upscale as it gets for you hayseeds in alabama so it makes sense i guess.

You stepped in the wrong catbox, child. Although a lifelong AU fan (Grandfather was prof in the Vet School), I have immense respect for @Deb and the quality of her posts.

@Deb, like so many Tide fans I respect, got your back. Later

    midwest:

If whatever team you cheer for had won the national title, the trophy would have been displayed in Walmarts across your part of the world, too. That’s because it wasn’t Alabama or Auburn doing the promotion, it was Dr. Pepper, the sponsor of the trophy, who was doing a cross-promotion with Walmart.
