Report: Reuben Foster’s father arrested in Florida

Signing Day Alabama Football AP

One of the top linebackers in this year’s recruiting class, Reuben Foster, made a high-profile commitment to Alabama earlier this week just before National Signing Day. Foster had previously been committed to Auburn — so committed, in fact, he chose to tattoo it on his forearm — after originally flipping from the Tide.

Turns out, Foster’s back-and-forth between Alabama and Auburn only slightly scratches the surface of his life story. According to CBS42, Foster’s biological father was arrested in Dania Beach, Fla., by the U.S. Marshal’s office. The report states that Danny Foster shot at the 18-month-old Reuben and his mother in 1995, wounding his son in the back.

Danny Foster was indicted by a Randolph County grand jury and later arrested in California. He then escaped from prison in 1996 and has been working odd jobs in Florida under a different identity.

Simply stunning. You just never quite know what some of these high school seniors have gone through in their young lives.

    You can’t make this stuff up.

    Best wishes for the kid.

    Reminds me of when I robbed a bank and the note I handed the teller was on the back of my deposit slip. Took the police 30 minutes to find me

    I said “Wow” out loud when I read those words– shot at the 18-month-old Reuben and his mother in 1995, wounding his son in the back.

    “Simply stunning” is also my thoughts exactly.

    Here’s hoping he keeps his head on straight and stays healthy and wise so he can become wealthy, not as an Auburn fan (I’m a Wisconsin Badger fan) but as a human being.

    That plentiful Deer Antler spray will heal that right on up!

    Thank God the Marshals caught finally caught up to him. Here’s hoping Reuben can find success in his football career and make a better life for himself going forward than the one he was born into.

  6. imaduffer says: Feb 8, 2013 6:44 PM

    It took god 13 years to catch him? Must have had better thing to do.

  7. Deb says: Feb 8, 2013 7:04 PM

    Gee, imaduffer, is ignorance as blissful as they say?

  8. imaduffer says: Feb 8, 2013 7:35 PM

    Only in Alabama

  9. kattykathy says: Feb 8, 2013 8:23 PM

    Hmmmm, strange coincidence that he finally gets caught after all these years , right after signing day.

  10. Deb says: Feb 8, 2013 8:36 PM

    Yes, katty-dude. That’s how Alabama tempted him to sign the LOI. Saban offered to pay the U.S. Marshals to hunt down dear old dad and lock him up. He’s a wily fox, our Nick.

  11. Deb says: Feb 8, 2013 8:37 PM

    @imaduffer …

    Been in Alabama long?

  12. cometkazie says: Feb 8, 2013 9:00 PM

    Tell ’em, Deb.

  13. kattykathy says: Feb 8, 2013 9:14 PM

    Just cause you can’t get a man, doesn’t mean that everyone IS a man.

    I know you must be frustrated to see another woman that is smarter, more confident, and certainly classier.

    Insecurity and low self esteem is just flowing from your words. Must be hell

  14. sanduskyshowerboy says: Feb 8, 2013 9:22 PM

    Deadspin reporting this story is a hoax in 3…2…1…

  15. Deb says: Feb 8, 2013 9:41 PM

    As I said, katty-dude, your posts give you away. Women posting on football blogs talk about the game. They don’t come on, as you did on PFT, accusing other women commenters of putting out for their teams … or as you’ve done here, accusing other women commenters of PMSing, being fat, or being unable to get a man. Those are the comments of a junior high boy, not a woman who is interested in football.

  16. hatesycophants says: Feb 8, 2013 9:45 PM

    Do we really need to know this?

    Deb and Katty-dude,

    Cut it out.

  17. Deb says: Feb 8, 2013 9:57 PM

    @hatesycophants …

    I’ve been minding my own business posting on these sites for years. This guy came onto PFT and CFT harassing me and I reserve the right to defend myself when I feel the need. If that bothers you, skip my posts.

  18. WingT says: Feb 8, 2013 10:14 PM

    Please focus all drama and angst toward the thumbs up or down indicators on each post as opposed through dissertation form that is currently being used by some posters .

    Discontinue written, dramatic, personal attack posts that take up valuable disk space in the cloud let alone the fact it makes these articles and their PERTINENT comments harder to read as well.

    Pretty please, with sugar on top

  19. jason1214 says: Feb 8, 2013 11:41 PM

    Wow, must every post be a negative remark about Alabama the state, the football team, Saban,god, cheating…ahh f*** it. RTR

  20. suprmous says: Feb 9, 2013 12:29 AM

    And you’re throwin crap up in the faces of those of us who support LSU. Shame on you, guess you can’t count how many fingers you’ve got comin back to ya when you point one at us,huh?

  21. rsmeans says: Feb 9, 2013 12:33 AM

    Unbelievable ignorant posts on this topic. More important most are racial and mean spirited. They are filled with conspiracy crap and never have an solid evidence to back up their outrageous allegations. Posters like Kathy Kathy and Deb are not even women but men. Both should be banned from posting.

  22. be4bama says: Feb 9, 2013 9:24 AM

    Kattykathy dude why are you always posting on a BAMA blog? Is nothing ever written about your team? If you don’t stop I’m gonna tell your momma.

  23. be4bama says: Feb 9, 2013 9:28 AM

    Glad to hear that Reuben’s dad will be watching his son play in prison this fall.

  24. hatesycophants says: Feb 9, 2013 11:10 AM

    And, I have been following your posts for years. Your positions are generally cogent and well reasoned. It is not like you to allow a football discussion to devolve into a… ahem… catfight. The fact that the other combatant may or may not have 2 “Ys” notwithstanding.

  25. tony34343434 says: Feb 9, 2013 11:58 AM

    just the high quality kids bama gets. The family will be a perfect fit with Bama.

    He will have no problem taking the Deer Antler.

    Roll Dam Cheaters!!!!

  26. Deb says: Feb 9, 2013 12:46 PM

    @hatesycophants …

    Thanks for that. I’m just tired of this person following me around calling me infantile names when I’m simply posting about the game. It’s a pity rsmeans is too immature to understand that and too simple-minded to believe that a woman can post intelligent football comments … as I’ve been doing on this site since long before anyone ever heard of rsmeans.

  27. Deb says: Feb 9, 2013 12:51 PM

    @rsmeans …

    I have no idea why you decided to attack me–just as I have no idea why “kattykathy” showed up on PFT, then on CFT, attacking me out of the blue. Then again, there are no “racial” comments on this thread, so apparently you’d just had a few too many when you commented so we shouldn’t take your post too seriously.

  28. cometkazie says: Feb 9, 2013 2:50 PM

    I admire the way you take care of yourself, Deb.

    It’s we in the SEC West against the world apparently.

  29. Deb says: Feb 9, 2013 4:13 PM

    Thank you, cometkazie. As an LSU fan, you know I’ve always posted positive comments about your team, coaches, players, and those fans who’ve been fair and decent to me … as I do about all programs. But when people slam my teams, coaches, region, conference, or me personally–or have a problem with me simply posting “thank God”–I can sling it right back. Obviously, defending yourself and your own is unforgivable to a lot of people. Too bad.
