Illinois set to hire new D-line coach

Late last month, multiple reports stated that Illinois defensive line coach Keith Gilmore would be headed to North Carolina to take the same job.

It appears as though Illini coach Tim Beckman (pictured) didn’t take long to find Gilmore’s replacement: Millersville (from the D-II ranks) head coach Greg Colby, an Illinois alum.

Millersville confirmed Colby’s departure in a release. “The University stands firmly behind our football program, and we will work quickly to conduct a national search for a new head coach,” the release stated.

Colby also previously worked as an assistant at Illinois from 1988-95, and has served as an assistant at Michigan State and Northwestern.
