Sumlin says no changes in practice for Manziel, who will eventually speak with media

Texas A&M wisely pulled Johnny Manziel from its media availability on Monday -- ya know, with this whole NCAA story floating around and all. Manziel wasn’t going to be able to answer any questions about the “Outside the Lines” story anyway, at least not in any great detail.

That was reflected when Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin took the podium to answer questions with his team geared up to start preseason camp. Sumlin said that he only found out about the Manziel allegations in the past 24 hours (believe what you will there).

Your reaction is let’s find out the facts,” Sumlin said. “Our university is involved with that”

Sumlin added that there won’t be any difference in practice as far as Manziel is concerned. In fact, the redshirt sophomore will still be available to speak with media over the course of camp.

If you’re Sumlin, you have to prepare as though everything is normal. Manziel may be under the NCAA microscope, but he hasn’t been ruled in eligible for anything yet. If that changes, that’s when Sumlin’s preparation will too.
