Tide, Ducks still the BCS betting favorites

Given the fact that Alabama and Oregon have been 1-2 in the Associated Press poll for five straight weeks and in the coaches’ poll for four, it’s no surprise that, according to one wagering website, the two remain on a collision course for an early January meeting in Pasadena.

In the latest set of odds released by Bovada.lv, the Tide is a 9/5 favorite to win the 2013 BCS title while the Ducks sit at 15/4. Those odds are slightly better than they were two weeks ago, when UA was sitting at 2/1 and the Ducks at 4/1.

Ohio State, despite critics questioning its schedule as well as injuries, has climbed a bit to 11/2 from mid-September’s 13/2. Stanford also sees better odds this time around, going from 14/1 to the current 11/1.

After climbing steadily in the preseason and into the 2013 season, Clemson dropped from 12/1 to 14/1 while ACC rival Florida State remained steady at 12/1.

Despite the fact that it still controls its own destiny by winning out, LSU tumbled from 14/1 to 25/1 following its tough, three-point loss to Georgia. The Bulldogs, on the other hand, moved from 22/1 to 18/1, the best odds of any one-loss team.

Thanks to wins their past two games that almost weren’t, Michigan is now at 28/1. The Wolverines were at 33/1 in the preseason before moving to 16/1 in mid-September.

Northwestern and Missouri are unbeaten, but still come in at 100/1 and 300/1, respectively.
