In case you haven’t had your fill of posts about Mack Brown’s coaching future today, here’s another.
ESPN.com reported on Tuesday night that Brown is expected to resign his job as Texas head coach by the end of the week.
From ESPN’s source:“I know Mack, he’s friend, this is his decision, but he wants to tell his players and staff and not read it on the Internet,” the source told ESPN. “That’s why he reacted strongly to the [Orangebloods.com] report.
“I’d be real surprised if it hasn’t happened by Friday night with the [Texas] football banquet. I think it will be taken care of. It wouldn’t drag on much longer.”
The process has apparently been slowed down by the involvement of Brown’s agent, Joe Jamail, in a trial. But ESPN’s source seems adamant that Brown will definitely be gone soon.
Another source told ESPN’s Joe Schad the same thing: Brown is about to resign.
At this point, there seems to be too much smoke for there not to be fire with regards to Brown’s future. (Not to mention all the noise around his potential successor.)
