Jameis Winston named AP Player of the Year

The postseason honors continue to roll in for Jameis Winston, with the Florida State easily staking his claim to one of the most recognizable honors in the sport.

Tuesday afternoon, the Associated Press announced that Winston has been named as its 2013 Player of the Year.  Winston becomes the first Seminole to claim the AP award, which was first handed out in 1998.

And, not so unexpectedly, Winston claimed it by a rather comfortable margin.

Of the 56 members of the media who voted this year, 49 of them voted for Winston.  The only other players to receive votes were Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch (three), Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron (two) and Boston College running back Andre Williams and Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard (one each).

Since the end of the 2013 regular season, Winston has taken home, among others, the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp National Player of the Year and the Davey O’Brien Award.  He’s also a consensus All-American and was named as the ACC’s overall, offensive and rookie of the year, the first player to ever sweep all three honors in a single season in the conference’s history.

So what comes first, his being drafted by the NFL or indicted for a felony. My $$$ is on the latter. Least likely outcome–university graduate.

Willie Meggs, the Tallahassee States Attorney, should be sharing this award with Winston. Without his whitewash Winston would be in jail right now, awaiting trial.

why Not he needs to run for president .. After all he has run the full gambit of everything now … From felony rape accusations .. (I might add that Florida didn’t seem fit to hurt their chances of a national title by charging him .. doesn’t matter what the alleged victim had to go thru .. there was nothing at stake there ..) to an alleged good record of football stats by teams that couldn’t even make the top ten .. Hell lets give him the kitchen sink ..
