‘Huskers an option for ex-UW WR Stringfellow

Nearly a week after announcing his transfer from Washington, one of the most talented players to enter the transfer pool this offseason has at least one option at the table.

In an interview with HuskerOnline.com, Damore’ea Stringfellow acknowledged to the Rivals.com website that Nebraska is one of the schools to which he’s considering a transfer. The Cornhuskers were the only school specifically mentioned by the wide receiver as potential transfer destinations.

Nebraska is definitely a team I’m considering,” Stringfellow told the site. “I really liked Nebraska’s coaching staff and the family environment when they recruited me in high school.

“Right now I have a plan, but it’s not 100 percent. I’m just trying to finish off this last quarter here and then I’ll be focusing on where I’m going. As of right now I’m just focusing on finishing school out.”

Miles, along with former teammate and quarterback Cyler Miles, were allegedly involved in a pair of assaults this past February. Miles, who was reinstated to the team earlier this month, was not charged while Stringfellow was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree and one count of malicious mischief in early April.

Stringfellow’s transfer from the Huskies was announced last Wednesday, the same day Miles was reinstated.

Should the receiver land in Lincoln, it would give NU’s coaching staff a significant and talented weapon in 2015.

In 2013 as a true freshman, Stringfellow caught 20 passes for 259 yards. Stringfellow, a four-star member of UW’s 2013 recruiting class who was rated as the No. 10 receiver in the country, was projected starter as a Huskies heading into spring practice.

Should the California native transfer to Nebraska or any other FBS program, he would have to sit out the 2014 season but would maintain three years of eligibility beginning in 2015.
