Updated: Texas WRs charged with felony sexual assault, suspended

Kendall Sanders

A pair of Texas wide receivers was reportedly charged for felony sexual assault Thursday. Arrests for Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander are currently pending. The two have already been suspended by Texas.

The felony sexual assault charges are considered second-degree in nature and stem from an incident that took place earlier this week, according to The Austin American-Statesman. Sanders also faces an additional charge for what is being reported as improper photography. Bail for each has been set at $75,000 for Meander and $95,000 for Sanders ($75,000 for each and an additional $20,000 for the improper photography charge to Sanders).

According to police records acquired by The Austin American-Statesman, University of Texas police found an alleged victim crying under a desk with no shoes. The victim claims to have agreed to consensual sex with Meander, but Sanders knocked on a door and was let in by Meander. At that time, the alleged victim claims, Sanders began to force himself on the alleged victim. When Meander returned to the room, the alleged victim claims both Texas receivers continued to “forcibly” penetrate the victim. After seeing what was believed to be a camera flash, the alleged victim got dressed and left. University of Texas police was notified of the incident early Monday morning and began investigating quickly.

Texas head coach Charlie Strong issued a statement regarding the suspensions.

Sanders has been in legal trouble before at Texas. He was suspended from the 2013 season opener following a DUI charge. He started seven games last season for the Longhorns, finishing the year third on the Longhorns in receiving yards with 361 yards and a touchdown. Sanders was also used on special teams, with 10 kickoff returns over 12 games. Meander is a redshirt freshman after sitting out the 2013 season.

They both should be throw in jail…freaking idiots! This won’t take long at all for Charlie…Sanders has no clue…dude is a waste…Meander will be soon to follow him out the door. After reading the Affidavit, Sanders needs to be behind bars for a long time.

Transferring to Luhlvuhl as we speak

  3. bigmeechy74 says: Jul 24, 2014 12:39 PM

He should have left instead of meandering around the room

  4. dirtymcgirty says: Jul 24, 2014 12:57 PM

Really, tgaustin? They should be thrown in jail simply off this girl’s word? What her any more credible that the two males who say she’s lying?

  5. dirtymcgirty says: Jul 24, 2014 12:59 PM

    What makes her more credible*

  6. deucez2 says: Jul 24, 2014 1:06 PM

They’ll never see the field at Texas.

  7. thefiesty1 says: Jul 24, 2014 1:30 PM

They should be transferring to Huntsville State Prison immediately.

  8. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 1:31 PM

Damn, Sumlin has really lost control of the program.

    Oh wait…

  9. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 1:40 PM

Does this count as being disrespectful to women?

This issue first surfaced over 2 weeks ago, and yet disciplinarian Charlie did nothing until the Austin American Statesman printed it in their daily fishwrap.

This was well known around the 40 acres and on internet message boards, including shaggybevo, yet Coach Badass did absolutely nothing.

  10. dirtymcgirty says: Jul 24, 2014 1:40 PM

If the “victim” could just “get dressed and (leave)”, why did she wait until the second her picture was taken? Was it because she was pissed she felt she was about to be exposed on the internet? Did she thwart that by crying rape?

  11. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 1:43 PM

Strong is letting his players put the T back in “Threesome”

  12. dirtymcgirty says: Jul 24, 2014 1:45 PM

goodfieldnohit, well gee, maybe because males have the right to, God forbid, defend themselves against simple accusations?

Can Charlie Strong be allowed to wait until there’s one stitch of evidence before punishing these guys for something that may not have even happened?

  13. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 1:55 PM

Read the arrest affadavit and get back to me on that:

Sanders and Meander were being questioned separately by the campus cops, but were texting each other to coordinate their stories during the questioning. (Why they allowed them to have phones with them during the interview in the first place was a no-no.)

Then the cops asked for their phones and they gave them to the cops. The texts and a picture of the victim were on the phone.

Just like everything else on the 40 acres, it’s all about the coverup. Applewhite, Ol Freak Nasty, Bev Kearney, the dude that sucker punched your tennis player, Ramonce Taylor, you name it.

Way to make a joke out of rape GoodShit! Classic Aggie response! You’re such a troll you give troll a bad name.

Read the affidavit my friend then get back to me. I applaud coach Strong for throwing them off the team. Had this been another “in state” school, certain coaches might have just suspended them for the first half of a game…unless that game was important.

  17. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 2:10 PM

I’m not joking about rape. Your players are committing rape, tgaustin.

And 3star Charlie has NOT thrown them off the team. They are merely suspended.

    Reading comprehension, get some.

  18. tgaustin says: Jul 24, 2014 2:23 PM

“Putting the “T” back in threesome”! I’m sure the girl who was raped would appreciate your analogy. As soon as the warrants were issued, both players were dismissed/suspended…they are as good as gone and they know it.

  19. 8to80texansblog says: Jul 24, 2014 2:24 PM

How do you call @goodfieldnohit a troll when you do the EXACT same thing on .every thread about an A&M player in trouble….

    “Keep that head up Kev”

  20. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 2:41 PM

Horn players are like their television network.

Forcing themselves on others because the popular demand just isn’t there.

  21. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 24, 2014 2:44 PM

tgaustin – I am making fun of the transparent hypocrisy of the University of Texas Athletic Department.

Improper photography. Did Case McCoy give lessons to these latest deviants?

Nobody down there has any shred of decency.

  22. tgaustin says: Jul 24, 2014 3:04 PM

Apples to oranges milkmen, apples to oranges. This just in, another Aggie apparently facing legal troubles…story pending.

  23. dirtymcgirty says: Jul 24, 2014 3:31 PM

An affidavit is a one-sided recollection if what the girl CLAIMS happened. Just because she claimed it happened, doesn’t mean it did. The affidavit from the girl in the Brian Banks hoax claimed that she was savagely raped too. The affidavit of the girl from the Duke Lacrosse hoax claimed that she as savagely raped too. The affidavit of the girl from the Michael Irvin hoax claimed that she was raped too.

    The girls who falsely accused:

    Erik Williams
    Michael Crabtree
    Brian Banks
    Jerome Bettis
    Larry Allen
    Lamar Owens
    Travis Johnson
    Mark Chmura
    Case McCoy
    Jordan Hicks
    Praise Martin-Oguike

    Derrick Coleman
    Chris Webber
    Juwan Howard
    Rick Pitino
    Elijah Ingram
    Grady Reynolds
    Abraham Keita
    Lamont Hamilton
    Mohammed Diakite
    Tyler Jones
    Calvin Murphy
    Duke Mondy
    Dante Williams

    Jose Mesa
    Mark Whiten
    Jose Canseco

    Colin Finnerty
    Reade Seligmann
    David Evans

    TV Personalities:
    Tucker Carlson
    Geraldo Rivera
    Mario Lopez

    Merlin Santana
    Anthony Anderson
    Clifton Davis

Joseph Simmons – Run from Run DMC
    LL Cool J

.. all claimed they were raped until they either admitted they lied, and/or got arrested and were exposed as liars. I’m not saying this girl is lying.. I’m just saying in light of the propensity for females to get emotional and feel “used” during their “Walk of Shame”, I need a little more than her word to destroy a male’s life.

Go read the affidavits from the Oregon Ducks basketball “rape” case (hoax) from a month ago. Go read the affidavits from the New Mexico Lobos football “rape” case (hoax) from April. Charlie Strong absolutely did the right thing by waiting until actual charges were filed, rather throwing them to the wolves beforehand. Should Michael Crabtree been held out of the 2012/2013 playoffs/Superbowl after his accusation? The woman’s two best friends admitted she lied and set him up. It happens to males over and over and over again. I admire coach for his measured, responsible, adult approach.

    ^^^ Touché

  25. dirtymcgirty says: Jul 24, 2014 3:36 PM

Colin Kaepernick, Ricardo Lockette, Quinton Patton anyone? Twitterland wanted these “savages” imprisoned, and damn near castrated for “raping” a drugged, unconscious woman.

How did that turn out? She lied with impugnity, no?

    “Book ’em Horns.”

    Worth remembering.

  28. 8to80texansblog says: Jul 24, 2014 6:09 PM

Speaking of putting the “T’ in Texas… Maybe longhorns should worry more about spelling it correctly first…

I guess one positive is that they got the “T” right…

Damn, Sumlin has really lost control of the program.

    Oh wait…
Not a fan of either program, but Sumlin may have some migraines popping up from Speedy Noil and LaQuivonte Gonzalez, the man with the ethnically ambiguous name, haircut and absurd tats.

  30. cyraider says: Jul 25, 2014 1:45 AM

    Book ’em Horns

  31. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 25, 2014 4:55 AM

Two more horns dismissed from team last night. Jalen Overstreet and Chevoski Collins. Rumor is their careers went up in smoke.

To recap, you can be charged with rape, and only get suspended by Coach Toughlove. Smoke a little weed and not be a starter, and you’re gone…

  32. tgaustin says: Jul 25, 2014 10:18 AM

    Then there’s this tough love:

  33. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 25, 2014 11:37 AM

That’s a year old article, tgaustin. What’s your point?

  34. dhardy8207 says: Jul 26, 2014 11:06 AM

First if this is true then let the legal system deal with them swiftly.

However, I can’t for the life of me understand how so many young ladies are finding themselves in this type situation. When I left home for college at the age of 18 my mom and dad laid down strict “do’s and don’ts”. My dad taught me a few ways to defend myself beyond the swift blow to the genitalia area and what to do if being overpowered by a male. How to go about leaving marks on him that won’t go away overnight and actually require him to seek medical attention himself.

My brothers (3) were also taught how to respect a young lady and not allow themselves to be caught in a situation to where they could be accused of this type of offense without a way to defend themselves in court.

NOTE: Parents teach your young men and women to have respect for others and themselves.
