Gator Nation, it appears it’s safe to exhale.
Late night it was reported that supremely talented Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves had suffered a knee injury of unknown severity during an on-field scuffle involving several teammates. As Hargreaves was taken off the field in a cart, it was initially feared that the injury could be severe.
That turned out to not be the case as the school announced, via the Orlando Sentinel, that an MRI performed on the knee revealed a bone bruise. Officially, the defensive back is day-to-day.
Friday, head coach Will Muschamp also clarified what actually led to the injury.
Hargreaves, a preseason first-team All-SEC selection, led the Gators in interceptions as a true freshman with three. He’s the lone returning starter in UF’s secondary and is widely considered the most talented young corner in the country.
