Just like old times? Florida to play with two QBs vs. Missouri

Former Florida head coach Steve Spurrier made a living at Florida by alternating quarterbacks. Will Muschamp may not be quite be ready to revisit those kinds of offensive strategies this week as the Gators prepare for Missouri, but Muschamp is giving both of his quarterback options reps this week in practices.

Jeff Driskel remains the most likely starting quarterback for the Gators, but Treon Harris is expected to play as well after being reinstated by Florida late last week. Harris had been suspended from all team activities while an investigation into an alleged sexual assault was ongoing. The accuser of Harris dropped her complaint late last week and Florida was quick to reinstate him to rejoin the team, but he did not play against LSU on Saturday. Driskel has struggled this season and led the offense in a loss at home against LSU.

“They both will play this week,” Muschamp said Monday during his regularly scheduled press conference (via The Orlando Sentinel). “Right now, Jeff will probably start, but they’re both going to play.”

Harris was thought to be set to take over the offense after coming off the bench to lead Florida to a victory against Tennessee two weeks ago, but Harris was suspended by the team before the prep for LSU could begin. If Harris gets back on the field and moves the offense more effectively than Driskel does against Missouri, he may start seeing more duties on offense before long.
