Florida State suspends RB Dalvin Cook following warrant for alleged battery of woman

Florida State has acted quickly on the status of running back Dalvin Cook. Within hours of a warrant being issued for his arrest for an alleged battery of a woman, Florida State has issued an indefinite suspension to the team’s leading rusher from a year ago.

Cook was being investigated by police for an incident in which a woman was allegedly punched outside a bar in Tallahassee on June 23. According to a report by Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com, the woman claimed to be punched in the face several times. The alleged victim identified Cook as the suspect of interest to authorities, and a warrant for his arrest was issued Friday afternoon by the state attorney’s office. Cook has been charged with misdemeanor battery.

Earlier this week Florida State dismissed quarterback DeAndre Johnson from the program after video of him punching a woman in the face inside a bar surfaced. For now, Cook will remain suspended until further notice at Florida State. His status with the team will be closely monitored though as Florida State looks to shed a disturbing image problem with the football program.
