After just a couple of days, it’s time to reset the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker.
The latest to send it back to double zeroes is UMass’ Jalen Williams, who was arrested very early Sunday morning after he and another man not connected to the football program allegedly broke into a car at an on-campus apartment complex. The wide receiver and another 21-year-old male were booked on charges of breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony and larceny over $250.
From the police report regarding the incident:
While Williams told a local television station that he has been suspended as a result of the arrest, the university would only state that they’re “aware [of the incident] and reviewing it internally.” Williams claimed “that he didn’t steal anything and was stopped because he fit the description of a suspect Amherst Police were looking for.”
Last season, Williams started three games for the Minutemen. He was fifth on the team in receptions (20) and receiving yards (307), and was fourth in touchdown receptions (four).
This season, Williams hasn’t played due to an injured quad.
