Miss. St. staffer arrested on drunk-driving charge

It’s time to reset the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker yet again, although this time it’s not a player that triggered it.

According to the Daily Journal and Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Mississippi State recruiting assistant Rod Gibson was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence. No details of what led to the initial traffic stop were released.

This is Gibson’s first such offense, and the university is aware of the development.

As for Gibson’s future with the football program? In October of 2011, recruiting assistant Mark Ouimet resigned from his post, 10 days after he was arrested for DUI. Whether Gibson will be forced to resign as well remains to be seen.

Gibson, who played his college football for the Bulldogs in the late nineties, was hired into his current role this past February.
