Ex-LSU QB Anthony Jennings lands at Louisiana-Lafayette

Four month after leaving one FBS program in the state of Louisiana, Anthony Jennings has landed at another.

Louisiana-Lafayette announced via a release Thursday that Jennings has signed a grant-in-aid with the school and will finish his collegiate playing career with the Ragin’ Cajuns. As the quarterback moves on to UL-L as a graduate transfer, he’s immediately eligible to compete in 2016.

This will be Jennings’ final year of eligibility.

“We are excited about Anthony joining our program and competing for the starting quarterback position this fall,” head coach Mark Hudspeth said in a statement. “He has been a starting quarterback in the SEC and he led his team to nine wins. Being a senior, he will bring a wealth of experience to the position.”

In March, it was announced that Jennings had been given a release from his LSU scholarship and would be transferring following an oft-times turbulent career with the Tigers both on and off the field.

Jennings played in 24 games during his time in Baton Rouge, starting 13 of those contests. With Jennings (124-256, 1,611 yards, 12 touchdowns, eight interceptions; 127 carries for 310 yards, two touchdowns) as the starter, the Tigers went 9-4.

Last summer, Jennings was one of three Tigers arrested for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, but the charges were later dropped at the request of the alleged victim and Jennings was reinstated. Subsequent to that, Jennings was beaten out for the starting job by Brandon Harris, who will once again enter this coming season as the starter.
