Bill Snyder joins elite FBS fraternity in reaching 200 wins

The Wizard of Little Manhattan still has some magic left in those 77-year-old bones.

Playing for the Governor’s Cup in their in-state rivalry game with Kansas, Kansas State jumped out to a 20-3 halftime lead on the Jayhawks and cruised to a 34-19 win Saturday afternoon. The win was the 200th in Bill Snyder‘s career, which puts him into some very elite company.

Snyder became just the 17th head coach to accumulate 200-plus wins at the FBS level. He’s one of 83 coaches who’ve accomplished that feat at any level of college football.

What Snyder has done with the Wildcats has been nothing short of miraculous.

From 1921 until 1988, a span of 68 seasons, K-State won 200 football games. Snyder has matched that number in just 24 seasons. While Snyder has only coached 19% of the 124 seasons in which K-State has played, he has accounted for nearly 39% of the program’s 515 wins all-time.

He’s an all-time great, and the sport’s a better one with him -- and his handwritten notes -- in it.
