Iowa RB’s H.S. Coach Confirms Injury

While the mystery of Jewel Hampton and his injury continues, at least one layer of the unknown has been peeled away.

The Iowa running back’s high school coach has confirmed to the Des Moines Register that his former player did indeed suffer an injury during a workout late last week.

Like everyone else, however, Steve Tutsie has no idea as to the extent of the damage.

“He was trying to remain positive, so I didn’t want to push it,” Tutsie said when he asked Hampton about the injury. “We’ll just have to pray and hope for the best, I guess.”

Since the injury occurred last Friday, the rumors have run the gamut from nothing serious to he’ll miss a few games to he blew out his ACL and will miss the entire season. Hampton supposedly got an MRI on his knee earlier this week, but the results are not yet known.

As of this morning, there has been no word from the Hawkeye program that Graham was even injured let alone the extent of it.
