Michigan close to naming ’10 home-opener opponent

While the renovations at Michigan Stadium is on schedule, there is currently no opponent in place for opener in 2010 at the updated Big House.

According to the Detroit News, that could change in relatively short order.

Speaking at the Big Ten Media Days, head coach Rich Rodriguez hinted that a school has already signed on, although he wouldn’t name the team.

It’s a BCS school, home-and-home,” Rodriguez said.

The likely opponent, according to the paper, would come from the grouping of Virginia, Duke, Oregon State and Pittsburgh. All four of those schools have an opening on their schedule next season.
