MSU issues statements on Dixon DUI case

Four weeks after being arrested on suspicion of DUI, Mississippi State running back Anthony Dixon has apparently overcome the legal hurdles associated with the case.

While we have yet to come across any information that explains exactly how the case was disposed, the school issued a pair of statements from both Dixon and head coach Dan Mullen that indicates, as far as the courts are concerned, the case is over.

“We’re thankful this process has come to its conclusion, and I know Anthony is looking to move forward from here,” Mullen said in a statement. “Anthony has done everything the team has asked of him to this point, but he still has further responsibilities to his teammates. While the consequences for his actions from a legal standpoint have been met, he still has obligations to the Mississippi State football team that we will handle inside the football program.”

It’s unclear at this point whether Dixon will face any type of a game(s) suspension, although at this point it seems unlikely.

For his part, Dixon was very contrite for his actions.

“Again I apologize for my selfish actions and I understand the punishment that comes with it. My teammates and coaches have been supportive even though I’ve disappointed them. With this in the past, I can’t forget the lessons I’ve learned. Now I have to start with a total focus on school and getting ready to play my senior season.”

The school said Mullen and Carter will have no further comment on the matter.

In the past two season, Jackson has rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns.
