Report: NCAA investigating Bryce’s eligibility

C’mon, admit it. You knew the above headline was coming.

You didn’t now when, or how, but you knew. “It’s not a matter of when, not if,” you thought to yourself.

And you were right.

According to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel, the NCAA is investigating controversial and highly-touted Tennessee recruit Bryce Brown‘s amateur status as a high school player.

(I’ll wait until the shock settles in. Then let the News Sentinel handle it for a minute...)

At question is money raised for Brown and other players to attend football camps while in high school. Kiffin said Brown is currently eligible, but is uncertain if Brown will be eligible for the season-opener Sept. 5 against Western Kentucky.

Tennessee’s recruitment of Brown is not thought to be part of the investigation.

There will be a lot of rumor, innuendo and speculation flying around in the coming weeks as to the why’s and the who’s, but I will not say anything about Brown’s handler, advisor, whatever title that particular person goes by.

I won’t say anything along the lines of “the Butler did it”.

Nope, you won’t get me to do it.
