Future, future Vols-Trojans series in the works

With Lane Kiffin spilling the beans yesterday, athletic director Mike Hamilton has confirmed that Tennessee and Southern Cal have reached a verbal agreement on a two-game series 12 years into the future.

Hamilton made the announcement on his Tweeter page.

“Since Lane mentioned it-we do have a verbal to play SoCal in 21 and 22, but no contract yet. Another great series for the Vols and our fans.”

Kiffin, of course, was an assistant on Pete Carroll’s staff at USC before coming to UT -- we’ll politely forget that little embarrassing Oakland stop in between -- although, needless to say, there’s no guarantee that either coach will be around when the two schools meet again.

Provided there is no bowl match-up between now and then, 2021 would mark the first time in forty years the schools will have met on a football field. In all, the two school
