Pair of Hokie starters listed as doubtful

Coming off a season-opening loss to the Alabama, Virginia Tech could certainly do without having to deal with injuries at this early point in the season.

Unfortunately, they’re going to have no choice but to do some dealing.

The school announced today in a press release that two senior starters -- tight end Greg Boone and cornerback Stephan Virgil -- are listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game against Marshall.

Boone is suffering from a sprain of the sternoclavicular joint, which connects the breastbone and the collar bone. Injured in the first half of the opener, Boone sat out the entire second half of the loss.

Virgil has a sprained left knee that he injured late in the ‘Bama game. Before that injury, Virgil was one of the few bright spots for the Hokies as he had a career-high eight solo tackles -- three for a loss -- four assists and a fumble recovery.
