‘Horns LB to have season-ending surgery

Linebacker Jared Norton is slated to have surgery performed on his injured shoulder and will miss the remainder of the 2009 season, Texas head coach Mack Brown announced this afternoon.

Norton suffered the injury in the Longhorns season opener, and has not played since.

Brown said that Norton will apply for a medical redshirt from the NCAA, which shouldn’t be an issue as the senior played in less than one full game.

Sophomores Emmanuel Acho and Keenan Robinson have replaced Norton in the last two games, and are expected to do the same through the remainder of the season.
