Barkley slated to start for Trojans

Eleven days after suffering an injury to his throwing shoulder, Matt Barkley has regained his starting job at Southern Cal, head coach Pete Carroll announced this evening.

Barkley took most of the reps with the first-team offense during practice today, allowing Carroll to pull the trigger on resuming his bromance with going back to his freshman quarterback.

He’s ready to go,” Carroll said. “It’s clear he had a very good day today.

“Off and running we go.”

Carroll added that both Aaron Corp and Mitch Mustain (chuckle) would be ready should Barkley suffer a setback, although it’s unclear how injured Corp was after being thrown under the bus earlier this week.
