Both starting corners out for UK vs. ‘Cocks

If you’ve seen quarterback Stephen Garcia walking around the South Carolina campus licking his chops this week, there’s a very good explanation for it.

On Tuesday, longtime starting cornerback Trevard Lindley was ruled out of the Gamecocks game with an ankle injury. On Wednesday, fellow starting corner Paul Warford was ruled out as well.

Warford strained a quadriceps muscle during the loss to Florida and missed the Alabama loss.

Sophomore Randall Burden and freshman Martavius Neloms will replace Warford and Lindley in the starting lineup.

“Hey, you gotta play,” head coach Rich Brooks said. “They’ve been practicing all year, too. We’ve into the fifth game, so there aren’t any more rookies. They can both cover. Neloms, in particular, is a very physical guy.”
