Florida denies ‘Tebow will start’ report

And it continues ...

Responding to an Orlando-based TV report, claiming that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow would start Saturday’s game at LSU, Florida associate athletic director for communications Steve McClain quickly issued a denial, saying that no decision regarding the status of the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner has been made.

In addition to reporting that Tebow is on track to be cleared to play by team doctors, the Orlando Sentinel says that it received a text message from the father of Florida backup quarterback John Brantley, reiterating the “game-time decision” company line.

Earlier on Friday, WKMG sports director David Pingalore cited “team sources” to report that Tebow, who suffered a concussion two weeks ago in a game at Kentucky, “took 100 percent of the snaps” during Thursday’s practice and would “definitely” play and start on Saturday night versus the Tigers.
