Lynch safe at Indiana?

At least for now, Bill Lynch is seemingly off the coaching hot seat at Indiana. And will remain so until at least through the 2011 season.

Speaking to the school’s student newspaper, athletic director Fred Glass all but guaranteed the coach would at least finish out the two years remaining on his contract.

“I think contracts need to mean something again at Indiana University,” Glass said. “He’s in the second year of a four-year contract ... I hope that and really think that coach Lynch will be very successful.”

Glass also said he’s not going to get into hypothetical’s when it concerns how the football program may or may not perform in these next two seasons.

“I don’t get into the what-ifs,” Glass said. “I certainly don’t want to speculate on if this set of circumstances happen or that sort of circumstances happen.”

In his two-plus seasons at IU, Lynch is 14-19, including an anemic 5-15 mark in Big Ten play.
