Prince’s bowl status iffy for Bruins

A win by Navy over Army Saturday handed UCLA a bowl berth, but they could take the field against Temple sans their starting quarterback.

Kevin Prince suffered a sprain of the AC joint in his shoulder against Southern Cal, and his participation in practice Sunday was very minimal. While head coach Rick Neuheisel is optimistic Prince will return, the QB himself isn’t.

“One doctor told me that I might be ready to play or I might not,” said Prince. “There is no set timetable.”

Prince said that he has thrown a football a little bit in the past week, but admitted that he was still in pain.

Freshman Richard Brehaut would seem likely to get the start if Prince can’t go, but offensive coordinator Norm Chow said they would “wait and see how Kevin is” before moving on to an official Plan B.
