Clemson suspends four for bowl game

When Clemson takes the field today for their Music City Bowl match-up with Kentucky tonight, they’ll do so with four fewer players roaming the sidelines in full uniform and available for duty.

According to head coach Dabo Swinney, defensive tackles Jamie Cumbie and Rennie Moore, and tight end Durrell Barry and receiver Kyle Johnson have been suspended for today’s game due to curfew violations.

The latter two are seniors, while the loss of Cumbie is probably the biggest blow among those punished as the tackle is a big part of the Tigers’ defensive line rotation.

Swinney, who confirmed the player’s violated his 1 a.m. curfew Wednesday -- the team’s first day in Nashville -- said he would not let the incidents distract his team.

“We’ve got one game, four quarters,” Swinney said. “So let’s go win it and not make any excuses.”
