Florida’s Major Wright bolts to NFL

Florida safety Major Wright informed ESPN’s Joe Schad Monday afternoon that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2010 NFL Draft.

Wright officially confirmed his decision on Tuesday.

The third-year junior started the last 35 games of his college career, racking up seven interceptions in his final two seasons. Wright earned a reputation for big-time hits, such as this one in Florida’s BCS Championship Game win over Oklahoma last January. He also picked off Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford in that game.

The Gators have enough talent down the depth chart at safety to withstand Wright’s loss. Rising junior Will Hill, a monster recruit two years ago, is likely to be the team’s featured player at the position in 2010.
