Multiple websites are reporting this afternoon that Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson is expected to be named as Louisiana Tech’s new head coach in very short order.
One website that we won’t mention by name has gone so far as to report that a press conference has been scheduled for this afternoon to introduce Wilson.
According to two school officials, that’s not the case.
Both Malcolm Butler and Patrick Walsh of Tech’s media relations department have told CFT via email that there is no press conference scheduled and that the search is ongoing.
Butler, Tech’s Associate Athletic Director of Media Relations, said in the email that he “cannot confirm anything on any candidate” when asked specifically about Wilson.
This is not to say that Wilson will not be Tech’s next head coach, but it appears that some of the sites may have suffered from a premature speculation. Don’t worry, though; it happens to every guy.
