On Tuesday, a report from a Salt Lake City television station stated that Utah would be invited to join the Pac-10 conference amidst rumblings that the conference was looking to expand.
While that may ultimately happen -- mainly because it almost makes too much sense not to -- it’s not a subject that’s been broached with the school.
Utah athletic director Chris Hill told the Deseret News that his school “has not been contacted by anybody regarding expansion.” Although, at this point in time, is there anything else anyone associated with the university could say, even if there had been feelers flung in their general direction by the conference?
Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott said earlier in the week that “no serious discussions” had taken place with any schools, which implies that said feelers have already been put out there.
Either way, and until the conference decides one way or the other on expansion, you can expect to a hear a lot of Utah-to-the-Pac-10 rumors in the coming months.
