Hearing over, USC awaits fate

After three days of questions and statements, USC’s hearing with theNCAA is finally over. And like it’s been since the proceedings started, all parties are staying mum.

“I can’t even say no comment on no comment,” USC president Steven Sample told reporters.

Added USC spokesman James Grant, “We’ve been asked by the chairman of the committee not to discuss the proceedings. But we do want to thank the committee and NCAA staff and everyone involved for these proceedings and we are pleased we were able to present our side of the events and we look forward to an outcome and to moving on.”

As CFT resident historian John Taylor mentioned earlierthis morning, much of the focus centered on running back coach ToddMcNair, the most likely connection between the coaching staff and theimproper benefits that Reggie Bush received.

Later today, former USC basketball coach Tim Floyd caught the ire ofthe infractions committee, most likely for the reported thousand-dollarcash payment he gave to one of O.J. Mayo’s handlers, Rodney Guillory.

Now, USC awaits its fate, which at the pace the NCAA moved during its investigation, could come as soon as 2014.
