‘Homecoming’ pushes back start of LSU’s spring

Originally scheduled to start on Thursday of this week, LSU head coach Les Miles decided to push back the start of spring practice to Friday.

Following the hiring of an old friend of the program to his coaching staff, Miles has again decided to push back the start of spring ball.

According to the Shreveport Times, Baton Rouge native Steve Ensminger has been hired to replace Don Yanowsky as the Tigers’ tight ends coach. Ensminger was co-starting quarterback for the Tigers from 1976-79, sharing the duties with David Woodley.

In order to help Ensminger better assimilate into the program, Miles has decided to push back the start of spring practice until this coming Monday.

We’re excited about having Steve join our staff,” Miles said. “He comes to LSU with a great deal of coaching experience in the SEC, and he knows Louisiana very well.”

Ensminger was on Tommy Tuberville‘s Auburn staff from 2003 through 2008, but was not retained by new head coach Gene Chizik and spent 2009 as a high school coach.
