The news regarding Alabama’s kinda sorta thin secondary didn’t get any better today as it was learned that a potential starter on the unit has been lost to injury.
According to Gentry Estes of the Mobile Press-Register, JUCO transfer Dequan Menzie suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and will be lost for the entire 2010 season.
Menzie underwent surgery Thursday to repair the tendon, and will be out for at least 4-6 months.
The Press-Register also reports that Menzie initially injured the tendon during a football workout, but the rupturing didn’t occur until he participated in a pick-up basketball game earlier this week.
The cornerback still plans on enrolling at ‘Bama June 1.
