For nearly a year, rumors and reports of Northwestern playing a football game at historic Wrigley Field have been making the rounds.
Friday afternoon, those rumors and reports will come to fruition.
According to a press release issued by the Chicago Cubs, the MLB club and “and Northwestern University tomorrow will hold a press conference at Wrigley Field to announce plans for a college football game at the Friendly Confines.”
Interestingly enough, the release mentions that representatives from the Chicago Bears will be in attendance as well.
What the release doesn’t mention is the specific school the Wildcats will take the field against. However, it’s not exactly a state secret that Illinois will be the opposition, seeing as how they’ve publicly acknowledged that they’ve been involved in contract talks regarding the game and all.
