UGA RB Jackson hit with six-game suspension... at least

At least in this case, Mark Richt has proven that he ain’t playing.

Two days after a pair of his Georgia players were arrested on alcohol-related charges, Richt has brought the disciplinary pain to the duo. Especially running back Dontavius Jackson.

According to the school newspaper, the redshirt sophomore has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities and will face, at minimum, a six-game suspension.

Ironically, the number of games Jackson has been suspended for mirrors the number of charges he’s facing. Early Saturday morning, Jackson was arrested and charged with six misdemeanors, including driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and underage possession of alcohol.

A passenger in Jackson’s vehicle, wide receiver Tavarres King, was hit with an underage drinking charge. The redshirt sophomore has also been suspended indefinitely by Richt, but is facing just a one-game suspension.

“I’m disappointed in their decision-making and lack of judgment and they will both pay a stiff price,” said Richt in a statement. “All our players need to understand that it’s a privilege to be a Bulldog and their conduct needs to reflect the standards we expect.”

Richt said he’s still gathering information that could lead to additional penalties for the players.
